The 1975: At Their Very Best - Bournemouth International Centre

Updated: Jan 11, 2023

Well what a way to start the year! My first gig of the year was The 1975 at the BIC, and I can honestly say in the 20 years of going to gigs, that was a first.

I’ve been a fan of The 1975 since I first heard them 10 years ago but they are a band I’d never seen live until now. I had seen clips and pictures online of the stage set up which looked impressive, but I could have never guessed What it would evolve into.

The At Their Very Best tour is very much a gig of two halves and I really want to focus on the first half. This was more than a gig, it was a mix between an 80s sitcom and a musical. It was a performance like no other. So much work has clearly gone into this tour, and it is worth it. An experience like no other, something which I think if another artist tried something like this it wouldn’t work. This was the prefect mix of the 1975 and the boundaries of creativity.

The second half of the show is a more straight forward gig blasting out the hits and getting the crowd whipped up into a frenzy leaving us all on a high and wanting more.

I cannot believe it took me 10 years to see these guys live, it certainly will not be another 10 years before I catch them again.
