Enter Shikari - A Kiss for the Whole World review

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

Enter Shikari are going to go down in the history books as one of the best most inventive bands of all time. They are a band that continue to push their sound and move fluidly through genres.

So A Kiss for the Whole World is the album title and opener, starting with a fanfare as only an Enter Shikari album could, the track quickly flips into a high energy furious riff, with a pounding beat which is impossible to sit still for.

Throughout the album there are some incredible riffs, and also prefect of DnB beats and electronics taking over giving that extra depth you expect with an Enter Shikari album.

One of the standout moments on the album for me is Dead Wood, for some reason the ending with Rou repeating I want to feel the way you feel through a vocoder just builds and builds to a point where I wanted to scream along and I really want to see this song live.

Over the last few albums, the production has grown and they have been able to keep the chaos along with pure clean cut moments – goldfish is a great example of this.

If Its Hurts doesn’t end up in a bunch of top 10 songs of the year list and the end of the year, I will be very surprised.

A Kiss for the Whole World is their 7th album, and it’s difficult to keep the energy and innovation up for this many years without sound tided or bland but Enter Shikari manage do it every single time. They still sound fresh, exciting and rather joyful on this album as well.

Another part of this album I love is the little throw backs lyrically to Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible, just listen out throughout and you'll hear what I mean.

Enter Shikari have always been pioneers and this album just adds to their exceptional back catalogue, all I can hope for now is an autumn/winter tour!
