CMF2 - World exclusive listening party!

Well that was something out of the ordinary, I was just at a world exclusive playback of Corey Taylor's new album CMF2 thanks to Kerrang! (Their competitions are second to none!).

So I arrived at the secret location in the heart of London and we were greeted with a few cardboard cutouts of Corey through the years and a huge screen with the new album artwork, a very welcoming playlist and free drinks! So it begins and when we were getting a group shot, guess who jumps out to join in...well yes it was Corey! He then introduces the album, saying its some of the best music he's written, before running off to do some interviews.

Starting with The Box, this is a very gentle introduction to the album. Leading into what I personally think is one of the best songs Corey has ever written, Post Traumatic Blues. This track has already been released and it’s a killer, possibly the heaviest on the album, but lyrically, instrumentally, just all round this song is amazing.

The album is a proper journey with huge highs, rip roaring riffs to the incredible intimate and more personal tracks like Midnight and Sorry Me; two tracks I cannot wait to give another listen to. Even just on one listen, I know I’m going to love these tracks and find more levels with each listen.

For me, Corey is one of the most engaging, charismatic musicians and is responsible for the soundtrack to over half my life so far.

The album is awesome, if you were a fan of the first this is a step up. if you weren’t the biggest fan of CMFT give this one a try. Its not Slipknot, its not Stone Sour, Corey has created his own vibe outside of these two and I love them all!

I need to learn how to smile in a picture instead of being shell-shocked!

I’m just pissed I now have to wait until September until I can have another listen! Big thanks again thanks to Kerrang! for running the competition!

- Also a little Brucie bonus, I got to met the Download legend that is Andy Copping!
